The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board says it will soon announce the tentative deposit for intending pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj.
The Director-General of the board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim-Matawalle, disclosed this on Tuesday during a press briefing in Kano while reviewing the 2026 Hajj operations.
“We are making adequate preparations to ensure intending pilgrims receive accurate information at the appropriate time,” Ibrahim-Matawalle said.
He described the 2026 exercise as one of the board’s most successful operations, attributing the achievement to proper planning, effective coordination and the commitment of stakeholders.
According to him, the board provided hand luggage and uniforms for all 3,611 Kano pilgrims, gave each pilgrim 200 Saudi Riyals as financial support, and provided shuttle buses for movement between their accommodation and the Holy Mosque in Makkah.
The DG added that the board renovated facilities at the Kano Hajj Camp and the mosque at the Hajj Terminal of Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, while also donating UPS units to the Nigerian Immigration Service to enhance Hajj operations.
He said the board recovered more than 130 pieces of luggage abandoned at accommodations and Saudi airports and engaged an international cargo company to return them to Kano for distribution to their owners.
Ibrahim-Matawalle thanked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Saudi authorities and other stakeholders for their support, while commending Kano pilgrims for their discipline and cooperation throughout the pilgrimage.
He reaffirmed the board’s commitment to improving service delivery and applying lessons from the 2026 Hajj to future operations.
