President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that every citizen will benefit from his administration’s ongoing reforms, insisting that the policies are designed to lay the foundation for lasting prosperity, economic growth and national development.
Tinubu made the declaration on Thursday at the inauguration of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Abuja. He was represented by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
The President said his administration chose the path of “courage and conviction” in implementing difficult but necessary reforms to rescue the nation’s economy and secure a better future for Nigerians.
Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Tinubu’s government has introduced key economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market, despite concerns over their immediate impact on citizens.
According to him, reforms are a continuous process aimed at creating opportunities and improving the standard of living of Nigerians.
“President Tinubu has repeatedly reminded us that reform is not an event, but a journey. The purpose of reform is not to make life difficult for the people, but to lay the foundation upon which future generations can build lives of greater dignity, prosperity, opportunities and lasting progress. Lasting progress is rarely achieved without temporary sacrifice,” he said.
The President further assured that all arms of government are working together to ensure the gains of the reforms reach every Nigerian.
“So we are working together to ensure that every Nigerian feels the impact of our reforms,” he said.
Tinubu also urged members of the newly inaugurated PBAT Door-to-Door Movement to promote democratic values by engaging Nigerians with respect, listening to their concerns and strengthening confidence in the country’s future.
“As you are inaugurated today, remember that you are ambassadors, not merely of a political movement, but of democratic engagement and process. Knock on every door with respect. Listen before you persist. Unite before you mobilise,” he added.
He stressed that politics should be driven by patriotism and service, noting that national interest must always take precedence over partisan considerations.
