JUST IN: Tinubu reportedly retains Shettima as running mate for 2027 election

President Bola Tinubu has reportedly decided to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election, despite speculations that he could be replaced.

According to Presidency sources, Tinubu ignored pressure from some political interests allegedly pushing for a change in his running mate ahead of the poll.

The sources claimed that the President handed the vice-presidential nomination forms to Shettima over the weekend as part of preparations for the All Progressives Congress, APC, to submit its candidates for the 2027 presidential election.

It was further gathered that Shettima’s completed nomination form would be submitted alongside Tinubu’s before the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Political parties are expected to submit the nomination forms of their presidential and National Assembly candidates before the July 11 deadline for the January 2027 general election.

However, neither the Presidency nor the APC had officially confirmed the development as of the time of filing this report.
