The Nigeria Police Force will on Tuesday arraign the Director-General of the alleged non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, Adeniyi Adeyemi, before the Federal High Court in Abuja on an eight-count charge bordering on forgery, impersonation and related offences.
The charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, was filed on November 27, 2025, by police prosecutor, Wisdom Madaki. Adeyemi and two others are listed as defendants in the case.
The matter was initially scheduled for June 16, but proceedings were stalled after Adeyemi was said to be indisposed. Justice Mohammed Umar subsequently adjourned the case for the defendants to take their plea.
According to the charge sheet, the prosecution listed the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, among its witnesses. Others include Paul Emmanuel, Jeremiah Imoukhede and Ituah Sylvester.
Also listed are two officials of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Akimbo Shola and Adamu Balongu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police.
The prosecution further named Ojo Victor, Omeh Amarachukwu and Wakili Saidu, who were allegedly posted to work with Adeyemi at the purported agency, as witnesses.
The owner of Kachi Hotel in Abuja, Joy Ngwoke, and the pastor of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Maitama, Ven. Okoriko, are also expected to testify.
Documents to be tendered by the police include the investigation report, a petition by Gbajabiamila dated October 17, 2025, and an alleged fake presidential appointment letter dated March 8, 2024.
Other exhibits include correspondence allegedly sent by Adeyemi to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeking a note verbale, approvals obtained to open accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria, requests for self-accounting submitted to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, and documents relating to the purported take-off of the agency.
The prosecution also listed letters seeking collaboration with government agencies for land acquisition and office space across the 36 states, statements obtained from witnesses and defendants, as well as photographs.
“The prosecution shall at the trial call any other related witness or witnesses to prove its case,” the police stated in the court documents.
Adeyemi is alleged to have operated the fictitious agency from the second floor of the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase III, Abuja, before his arrest.
President Bola Tinubu had directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the activities of the alleged fake agency.
