The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has trained 250 personnel on intelligence gathering and report writing as part of efforts to strengthen intelligence operations, enhance professionalism and improve operational efficiency across the state.
The one-day capacity-building workshop, organised by the command’s Intelligence and Investigation Department, was held in Kano on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, the State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, said the training was designed to equip officers with the knowledge and skills required to effectively carry out intelligence and investigative responsibilities.
He explained that the workshop focused on intelligence gathering, the legal framework guiding security operations, report writing, and the need for personnel to uphold professionalism and justice while performing their duties.
Hassan-Agalama said, “The purpose of this training is to ensure that our personnel are properly equipped to carry out their various duties, especially in intelligence gathering.
“It is also to enable them to understand the laws guiding their operations, know what is right, what to do and what not to do, while adding value to their professional competence.”
The commandant disclosed that the 250 participants constituted the first batch of the exercise, adding that more sessions would be organised for officers who could not participate due to operational commitments.
He urged participants to replicate the knowledge acquired by mentoring officers under their supervision to ensure uniform operational standards across the command.
Hassan-Agalama also advised personnel to apply the lessons learnt in investigations, arrests, issuance of invitations and dispute resolution in line with the law.
He stressed the need to respect citizens’ rights, maintain professionalism and ensure that matters beyond mediation are referred to the appropriate legal authorities.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure through intelligence-led operations, Hassan-Agalama said the NSCDC would continue to collaborate with the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and other security agencies to improve security across Kano State.
He also commended the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Dr Abubakar Audi, for his continued support towards personnel development and capacity building.
