The Management of Kano State Polytechnic has distributed eight branded motorcycles and modern security gadgets to its security personnel as part of efforts to strengthen the safety of lives and property across its campuses.
In a statement signed by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Auwal Ismail Bagwai, the institution said the intervention was funded through the 2026 TETFund Special Intervention under the Security Master Plan for Nigerian Tertiary Institutions (SEMPOTI).
Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Deputy Rector (Administration), Dr. Maryam Kabir, who represented the Rector, Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk, said the motorcycles were strictly meant for security operations.
She said the motorcycles would remain under the custody of the Chief Security Officers of the institution’s seven unit schools and the Central Administration.
“The motorcycles are strictly designated for security operations and should be effectively utilised to improve surveillance, rapid response, and the overall safety of the institution,” she said.
Kabir reaffirmed the management’s commitment to supporting the institution’s security units in carrying out their responsibilities.
Also speaking, the Registrar, Mukhtar Ibrahim Bello, appreciated the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for the intervention.
He disclosed that the 2026 security package also includes specialised training for security personnel, the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at strategic locations across the polytechnic’s campuses, the provision of new uniforms, modern security gadgets, and the eight motorcycles.
The registrar urged security personnel to make proper use of the facilities, noting that their effective deployment would further strengthen security across the institution.
