US will face ‘unforgettable lessons’, Iran Supreme Leader warns

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has warned that the United States will face “unforgettable lessons” after accusing Washington of violating an agreement between both countries.

Khamenei said the alleged breach was another indication of what he described as the “worthlessness and invalidity” of commitments made by former US President Donald Trump.

The Iranian leader made the remarks in a statement released by Iran’s state-run Mehr News Agency, following reports that Tehran had suspended its obligations under an interim agreement signed about a month ago.

According to Khamenei, the Iranian people had learnt “unforgettable lessons” from what he described as repeated violations of promises by the United States, which he referred to as the “Great Satan”.

He also criticised what he called America’s “arrogance, expansionism and brutality”, arguing that they were inseparable features of the country’s conduct.

“This dark experience of crime and bad faith serves as another solid piece of evidence of America’s lying, irrational, untrustworthy and vile nature,” the statement read.

The development followed an earlier disclosure by an Iranian negotiator on Friday that Tehran was suspending its commitments to the interim agreement amid rising tensions after seven consecutive nights of US strikes.

In his message to Iranians, Khamenei called for national unity and solidarity, urging citizens to remain united in defending the country’s “dignity and independence” against what he described as the “criminal and deceitful American enemy”.

He added that preserving unity and avoiding internal divisions, political disputes and social tensions remained a collective responsibility.
