The Nigerian Army, through Operation Hadin Kai, has cleared a man previously reported as a terror suspect after investigations established that he has no links to any terrorist organisation.
The individual, identified as Aboubakar Muhammad Zein-Nur, also known as Houdairi, was intercepted by troops of 68 Battalion during an exploitation operation following the attack at Cross Kauwa.
Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.
According to him, Zein-Nur was taken into custody in line with established operational procedures, given the prevailing security situation in the North-East and the use of border corridors by terrorist groups for movement and logistics.
“Comprehensive intelligence assessments and other investigative processes established that Zein-Nur has no affiliation with any known terrorist organisation,” the statement said.
The investigation further revealed that he is a resident of Shattu Anguba Village in Bosso, Republic of Niger, and engages in camel rearing across the River Komadougou.
Following the outcome of the investigation, Operation Hadin Kai said the individual had been cleared of any terrorist links.
The Theatre Command stressed that all persons intercepted under suspicious circumstances during military operations are subjected to due process and appropriate security screening to distinguish innocent civilians from terrorist elements.
Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, respect for human rights and adherence to the rule of law.
