The Director of Finance, Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Hon. Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has urged opposition political parties and Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to tackle insecurity in the country.
Kwankwaso said the commendation reportedly received by President Tinubu from United States President Donald Trump over Nigeria’s efforts to combat insecurity was evidence that the Federal Government was making progress in addressing the country’s security challenges.
He made the call in a statement personally signed and issued to journalists.
According to him, the Tinubu administration’s sustained efforts to confront insecurity had attracted international recognition, adding that such recognition should encourage Nigerians to support the government in its efforts to restore peace and security across the country.
He said: “You can see that President Tinubu has earned great commendation from President Trump for his fight against insecurity. This is clear evidence that Nigeria is getting it right, and everyone who truly loves the country should support the government.”
Kwankwaso also commended President Tinubu for approving the expansion of the Nigerian Army from eight to 12 divisions, describing the decision as a significant step towards strengthening the country’s security architecture.
According to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu approved the expansion of the Nigerian Army’s structure from eight to 12 divisions to enhance the country’s security architecture and improve the operational effectiveness of the military.
Kwankwaso said the approval further demonstrated the President’s commitment to equipping the Armed Forces to effectively respond to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges and strengthen the country’s national defence capabilities.
He expressed optimism that Nigerians would soon be able to travel freely across the country without fear of attacks.
The Director of Finance also commended the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar; the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; and the service chiefs for their efforts towards strengthening the country’s security.
He urged Nigerians to continue to pray for and support those working to secure the country.
“Nigerians should pray for and appreciate these gentlemen for their total commitment to securing the country and freeing it from the shackles of insecurity,” he said.
