Nigerian oil magnate and Chairman of A.A. Rano Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano, has received three awards from his community in recognition of his contributions to education and human development.
The awards were presented during the maiden Speech and Prize-Giving Day of Government Girls Secondary School, Lausu, named after the philanthropist. The event was held on Saturday in Lausu village, Rano Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Emir of Rano, Alhaji Muhammad Isah Umaru (Autan Bawo), led the presentation of the awards alongside the Danmakoyon Rano, Alhaji Bala Garba, and the Chairman of Rano Local Government Council, Malam Naziru Ya’u.
The organisers said the awards were presented in appreciation of Alhaji Rano’s sustained support for educational development and his humanitarian interventions, which have positively impacted lives within the community and beyond.
The event attracted traditional rulers, government officials, education stakeholders, community leaders, parents and students, who commended the businessman for his commitment to promoting education and community development.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of prizes to outstanding students as part of efforts to promote academic excellence.
