Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, Director of Finance at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, has described the rescue of 176 abducted residents of the Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State as proof that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is making steady progress in the fight against insecurity.
The victims, who were abducted on February 3, regained their freedom following a military rescue operation after spending nearly six months in captivity.
The Kwara State Government announced the development on Wednesday through its official Facebook page, describing the operation as a major breakthrough.
The state government also commended President Bola Tinubu, the security agencies and all those involved in securing the victims’ release.
Reacting in a statement, Kwankwaso said the successful operation demonstrated that the Federal Government’s efforts to combat insecurity were yielding positive results.
He urged opposition politicians to acknowledge and commend the government whenever significant achievements are recorded in tackling the country’s security challenges.
Kwankwaso also praised President Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, the Service Chiefs and other security agencies for their roles in the successful rescue operation.
According to him, the operation has renewed hope that the nation’s security situation will continue to improve.
“This is a clear testament that, sooner rather than later, the menace of insecurity will become a thing of the past,” he said.
Kwankwaso further claimed that many Nigerians, particularly in the North, have recognised President Tinubu’s efforts to restore security and would reward him with political support.
“The President’s efforts to secure the country have been acknowledged, especially by many Northerners, who will reciprocate by supporting him at the appropriate time.
“President Tinubu’s supporters are visible and can be counted. They will come out in large numbers to support him rather than relying on social media campaigns,” he added.
