The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has urged Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, compassion and peaceful coexistence as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Maulud.
Idris, in a statement commemorating the occasion, congratulated Muslims across Nigeria and the world, urging them to reflect on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
He said the teachings of the Prophet, particularly “peace, compassion, patience, justice, humility and respect for others,” remained relevant to Nigeria’s current challenges.
According to him, the values are important as the country continues to navigate a period of reforms and renewal under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Federal Government remains committed to building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria through reforms aimed at strengthening our economy, improving security, investing in infrastructure and expanding opportunities in education, skills development and enterprise,” he said.
The minister acknowledged that the progress being made through the reforms requires patience and sacrifice from Nigerians.
He therefore called for collective support for government’s efforts to build a secure, stable and prosperous country, stressing the need to ensure that no one is left behind.
Idris also urged Muslims and other Nigerians to reflect the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in their daily lives by showing kindness, rejecting hatred and division, and promoting peaceful coexistence.
“I urge us to embody the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in our daily lives by showing kindness to one another, rejecting hatred and division, and promoting peaceful coexistence in our communities,” he said.
He further called on Nigerians to remember the less privileged and extend support to people in need.
The minister prayed for the occasion to strengthen the faith of Muslims and deepen their commitment to peace and unity.
“May Allah continue to guide our leaders, protect our nation and grant Nigeria lasting peace, security and prosperity,” Idris added.
