Foundation enrols 150 Kano pupils, distributes school materials

The Dr Dahiru Muhammad-Hashim Foundation has enrolled 150 pupils from less privileged families in schools and distributed educational materials to them in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the gesture was part of the foundation’s Back-to-School Initiative for the 2026/2027 academic session, themed: “Investing in Education, Building a Brighter Future.”

The founder, Dr Dahiru Muhammad-Hashim, who presented the materials on Thursday in Kano, said the initiative was aimed at supporting children from less privileged families and improving access to education.

Muhammad-Hashim, who is also the Kano Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, said education remained critical to addressing insecurity and other challenges facing society.

“Among these children, we don’t know who the future leaders will be. Some of them may grow up to continue this kind of initiative because they have benefited from it,” he said.

He said the foundation had, in the past three years, undertaken humanitarian activities, including distribution of school uniforms, renovation of schools, empowerment programmes and provision of free medicines.

“We will continue with the initiative to enrol our children back to school,” he pledged.

He commended individuals who supported the initiative with 500 school bags and 1,000 books.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Dala Local Government Council, Alhaji Surajo Imam, commended the foundation for supporting education and community development.

Speaking on behalf of the parents, Hajiya Hafsat Shehu thanked the foundation for including children living with disabilities among the beneficiaries.

NAN reports that the materials distributed included school uniforms, school bags, books, shoes and other educational materials.
