The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Kano Branch, says it will on Saturday, April 25, 2026, lay the foundation for its proposed multi-million naira secretariat complex aimed at strengthening its institutional capacity and expanding community development initiatives.
The foundation-laying ceremony is scheduled to hold at 10:00 a.m. at No. 53, Kings College Street, Kurna Asabe, Dantata Estate, Kano.
In a joint statement on Tuesday, signed by the Union Public Relations Officer, Sheikh Abdulrazaq Shehu Aladire, and the Vice Chairman of the Foundation Laying Committee, Malam AbdulQuadri Ahmed Firdausi, the Union said the project is a major step in its development drive.
According to the statement, “the project popularly referred to as the IEDPU Kano Complex will comprise a mosque, an Islamic school, a modern administrative secretariat, and a guest house,” adding that it is designed “to serve as a central hub for the Union’s activities while promoting cultural, religious, and social engagement among members.”
The Union added that the ceremony is expected to attract prominent personalities from across the country, noting that “the ceremony is expected to attract prominent personalities from across the country.”
It also disclosed that Alhaji Surajudeen Adewuyi Usman Mohammad (Asamu I) will serve as Special Guest of Honour, alongside other dignitaries including Engineer Suleiman Kale Kawu (Dan Iya Ilorin Emirate), Alhaji Abdulrazaq Abubakar Toyin, Founder of AATU University, Alhaji Ibrahim Tajudeen Adeta, Chief Executive Officer of Apex Garden Abuja, and Alhaji Kazeem Omotayo Akande (Agba Akin Yoruba Kano).
Describing the project as a milestone, the Union said it reflects “the collective vision and commitment of its members toward sustainable growth and community development,” adding that it will mark a new phase in efforts to promote unity, preserve cultural heritage, and enhance members’ welfare.
