Professor Abubakar Jika Jiddere of the Department of International Relations, Bayero University Kano (BUK), has lost his mother, Hajiya Salma Tafida Mafindi.
Hajiya Mafindi died on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
The deceased was buried on Monday morning according to Islamic rites in Jalingo, Taraba State.
Prof. Jiddere, who is also the spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), confirmed the development and described the loss as painful.
