The Aide-de-Camp (ADC) and Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, have been invited to the Force Headquarters in Abuja amid the deepening crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The two officers were reportedly invited on August 20, 2026, for questioning over issues said to have originated from Katsina State.
The development has heightened concerns over the growing rivalry between factions loyal to Governor Radda and Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Political Matters.
However, the police have denied that the officers were arrested over any criminal allegation.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, told PRNigeria that the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, invited the officers for questioning.
He said the invitation was connected to issues from Katsina State but stressed that it was not based on any alleged criminal offence.
Iniedu added that preliminary investigations had established that neither officer had committed a crime.
The police have yet to publicly disclose the specific issues being investigated.
The development comes amid growing political tension within the Katsina APC, with rival camps reportedly battling for control of the party’s structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
A senior APC member, who spoke anonymously, said the disagreement had gone beyond ordinary political competition.
“The disagreement is no longer limited to party politics. It is now affecting institutions that should remain completely insulated from political contests,” the source said.
Political observers have expressed concern over the increasing use of petitions and security invitations in settling political disputes, warning that perceived politicisation of security agencies could weaken public confidence.
Meanwhile, Maiwada Dammallam, Director-General of the Media Directorate at the Katsina Government House, promised to provide the state government’s position on the matter.
He had not responded as of the time of filing this report.
The latest development is coming as political activities intensify in Katsina ahead of the 2027 general elections, with competing factions within the APC positioning themselves for greater influence.
