APC ex-councillors hail Yusuf over Garo’s nomination

The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) Ex-Councillors has commended Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, over the nomination of Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Hon. Sunusi Kata Madobi, the forum described the governor’s decision as thoughtful and strategic, noting that it reflects a commitment to competence-driven governance and administrative stability.

The forum said the nomination followed its consultative meeting to review recent political developments, adding that the choice of Garo underscores the importance of experience, loyalty, and grassroots connection in governance.

“As former councillors from 44 Local Government Council Areas, we commend Governor Yusuf for prioritizing experience, loyalty, and grassroots connection in his choice for Deputy Governor,” the statement read.

It further stated that Garo possesses a proven track record in public service, party administration, and political coordination, making him well-suited to support the governor in delivering on his administration’s agenda.

“The nomination of Hon. Murtala Sule Garo is not only timely but also indicative of His Excellency’s dedication to effective governance. This also demonstrates a clear understanding of the need to align leadership capacity with the expectations of the people,” the forum said.

According to the group, the decision reinforces continuity, institutional strength, and inclusive governance, stressing that Garo’s experience would enhance executive coordination and service delivery in the state.

The forum reaffirmed its endorsement of the nomination and called on party members, stakeholders, and the general public to support the governor’s decision in the interest of unity, stability, and sustained development.

It also urged political actors to prioritise collective progress above personal interests, noting that cohesive leadership remains essential for achieving meaningful and lasting impact.

The APC ex-councillors reiterated their support for the Yusuf administration and its commitment to policies aimed at strengthening governance and improving the welfare of the people.
