The Women for Women Forum, Kano State, has commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf over the nomination of Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor of the state, describing the development as a “defining political moment” in the state’s governance.
This was contained in a statement signed by the State Coordinator of the forum, Hajiya Asma’u Imam.
According to the group, the nomination should not be seen as a routine political decision, but a strategic move aimed at strengthening democratic governance and consolidating political stability in Kano State.
“The recent nomination of Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor of Kano State marks a defining political moment in the unfolding direction of governance under the leadership of His Excellency, Abba Kabir Yusuf,” the statement read.
It added that, “Women for Women Forum considers this development not merely as a routine political appointment, but as a strategic consolidation of democratic leadership strength and a clear affirmation of the administration’s growing political stability in the state.”
The forum further said the choice of Garo reflects a deep understanding of Kano’s political realities, noting that experience, loyalty, and grassroots acceptability were key factors in the nomination.
“From the grassroots perspective, this decision reflects a deeper understanding of the political landscape of Kano State—one that demands experience, trust, loyalty, and broad-based acceptability. Hon. Murtala Sule Garo embodies these qualities, having consistently demonstrated administrative competence, political resilience, and a strong connection with the grassroots,” it stated.
The group described the nomination as a step towards unity and continuity, saying it would strengthen the administration’s political base and enhance service delivery.
“This nomination, therefore, stands as a political victory for unity and continuity. It sends a clear message that the administration is focused on strengthening internal cohesion while expanding its reach across all segments of society,” the statement added.
It also commended Governor Yusuf’s leadership style, describing it as decisive and inclusive.
“In every political environment, leadership is tested by the ability to make decisions that unite, stabilize, and advance collective goals. In this regard, His Excellency has demonstrated decisive leadership by aligning experience with vision, and loyalty with performance,” the forum said.
The Women for Women Forum further pledged support for the development, saying it would continue grassroots mobilisation in favour of the administration.
“We therefore declare our unwavering support for this development and reaffirm our commitment to sustaining grassroots enlightenment and mobilization. This is not just an appointment; it is a reinforcement of the people’s mandate and a step forward in strengthening democratic governance in Kano State,” it said.
The group reaffirmed its alignment with the administration’s agenda, saying it would continue to promote unity and political stability across the state.
