Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State have purchased the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, endorsing him as the sole governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Kano, where party leaders unanimously reaffirmed their confidence in the leadership and performance of Governor Yusuf.
This was contained in a press statement issued on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor, Mustapha Muhammad.
Presenting the forms on behalf of the stakeholders, the immediate past National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said the decision followed a collective agreement to adopt the governor as the party’s consensus candidate.
“We have already agreed that you are our sole governorship candidate and in order to actualise that promise, I hereby hand over these two important forms to you — the expression of interest form and the nomination form — to be duly completed and submitted,” Ganduje stated.
The stakeholders said the purchase of the forms was a demonstration of their commitment to party unity and consolidation of developmental achievements under the present administration, adding that the consensus arrangement was aimed at ensuring stability and a smooth electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Yusuf, while appreciating the gesture, reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance, people-oriented policies, and continued development of Kano State.
In a related development, APC stakeholders in Kano State also unanimously adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections and pledged N50 million towards the purchase of his nomination forms.
The decision was reached at a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held at the Coronation Hall of the Kano Government House.
A motion for Tinubu’s adoption was moved by Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi and unanimously supported by stakeholders.
Speaking at the meeting, the Kano State APC Chairman, Umar Haruna Doguwa, said the party initially considered purchasing the forms outright but later resolved to make a financial contribution.
“We have agreed to contribute the sum of N50 million towards the purchase of the expression of interest and nomination forms for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Doguwa said.
The stakeholders said the endorsement was based on confidence in the president’s leadership and ongoing reforms, as well as a collective resolve to secure victory for the party in 2027.
The meeting also reaffirmed the earlier endorsement of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as the APC’s sole governorship candidate in Kano State, in a move aimed at strengthening unity and cohesion within the party.
The Kano State Government commended the stakeholders for their support and urged party members to remain united in advancing the collective interest of the party and the development of the state.
