APC primary: Yusuf Buhari emerges winner in Daura axis

Yusuf Buhari, son of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He secured a total of 5,849 votes to defeat his closest rival, Hon. Auwal Daura, who polled 21 votes in the exercise.

Yusuf Buhari had in April formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives, saying the decision was driven by his desire to contribute to governance and grassroots development within the constituency.

Announcing his ambition at the time, he said, “With all respect, I am extremely delighted to write and inform you of my intention to contest for the seat of House of Representatives at the above-mentioned constituency (Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua) under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

The APC primary election forms part of preparations by political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
