Arewa Lawyers Praise IGP Egbetokun’s Achievements, Request Tenure Extension

The Arewa Progressive Lawyers have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to extend the tenure of the current Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

At a press conference in Kano today, Barrister Mustapha Imam, President of the Arewa Progressive Lawyers, highlighted the significant achievements and reforms implemented by IGP Egbetokun since he took office.

Imam praised Egbetokun for his proactive approach and efforts to modernize the Nigeria Police Force, which have laid a solid foundation for future growth and effectiveness.

“Good morning, gentlemen.

I, Barrister Mustapha Imam, on behalf of the Arewa Progressive Lawyers, am holding this press conference to provide information and appeal to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR, regarding the position of Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Mr. President, we want to affirm our loyalty to the Federal Republic of Nigeria under your leadership and express our commitment to supporting any steps taken by your administration toward unity, progress, and good governance. We appreciate your emphasis on adherence to the rule of law and due process.

We thank you for your commitment to these principles and for your non-interference in these matters.

Our primary reason for this press conference is to highlight the successes recorded in the Nigeria Police Force under the current IGP, Kayode Egbetokun. Since assuming office, he has established a solid foundation for a vibrant and modern police force in Nigeria. He is a proactive IGP who addresses issues promptly. Given the successes achieved under his leadership and his effective leadership style, we urge the federal government under your leadership to continue supporting him to maintain the progress he has made.

At this critical moment, we advise and appeal to you, Mr. President, to extend the tenure of this exceptional individual due to his excellent performance as IGP.

Extending his tenure will allow him to further consolidate the progress he has made. He deserves sufficient time to build a solid and modern Nigeria Police Force.

We have observed his commitment to modern policing, the rule of law, and due process. Mr. President, we urge you, as a matter of importance, to graciously extend the tenure of the current IGP, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, in recognition of the successes achieved so far.

We thank you sincerely and pledge our continued support for good governance in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We would also like to extend our goodwill to the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sir Kashim Shettima, who actively contributes to the success of this administration. Our gratitude also goes to the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, and our hardworking SGF, Sir George Akume.
