Malam Inuwa Ibrahim Waya, a prominent figure in Kano’s political arena, served as a gubernatorial aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2022 and 2023 election cycles.
Formerly associated with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and boasting a legal background, Waya garnered significant attention in Kano’s political landscape.
However, his trajectory took a turn when Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje anointed his Deputy, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna as his successor, sidelining Waya’s aspirations.

In a gesture of support, Waya generously contributed to the Tinubu/Shettima 2023 Presidential Campaign Council by offering his campaign office, featuring a sizable 10,000-seat hall. Additionally, he donated 50 million to the Gawuna Garo Campaign Team.
