Zulyadaini Sidi Mustapha, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state, has blamed its state chapter for the party’s defeat in the 2023 general elections.
Sidi Mustapha specifically blamed the state’s chairman, Abdullahi Abbas Sanusi, for plotting the downfall of the party by hijacking the party’s affairs and turning a deaf ear to the party’s stakeholders, which culminated in the poor outing for the APC in the 2023 general elections.
Mustapha, a fierce critic of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his political godfather, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, made the allegations in a Facebook post seen by Kano Times on Sunday.
He said, “Every door that, if you knock, God will open for you to win elections, Abdullahi Abbas closed it for us. Every person who could help us was driven away by Abdullahi Abbas. I have never seen Prince (Saraki) with a poor heart except in Kano.”
Recall that the Kano State governorship election, held on May 18, 2023, saw Yusuf, of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP emerge victorious over his former running mate and APC candidate, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.
Displeased, the APC filed a petition at the tribunal to challenge the results declared by the electoral body.
The New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, won 26 out of 40 seats of the Kano State House of Assembly, 17 out of the 24 House of Representatives seats, and 2 senators out of 3.
