It was reported in some online news outlets that one Saleh Zazzaga, who claimed to be a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has written a petition asking the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to resign or face legal action.
In the poorly written and politically motivated petition, the author cited the zoning formula as the motive behind his actions, not realizing that it is the party’s decision to shift the chairmanship to wherever it so desires.
I wonder why the so-called petitioner failed to reason with the decision of the high-ranking body of the party, which was ratified by both the National Working Committee and the National Executive Committee. Where was he when that decision was made?
To refresh the memory of Mr. Saleh, those who have a say from the North Central zone have since paid their homage to Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and pledged to support his candidacy in the forthcoming party convention.
Not long ago, a former President of the Senate and elder from the same zone that Mr. Saleh claims to come from, Chief Ameh Ebute, who is also a chieftain of the APC, threw his support behind the National Chairman.
The former Senate President commended Ganduje for restoring peace in APC states in his region and the nation at large.
The council of APC state party chairmen and women leaders have all shown one hundred percent loyalty to Ganduje’s stewardship and vowed to support him in uplifting the party to a higher level.
Another endorsement came from the North Central Governors’ Forum, led by the Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule. The governor went further to advise the National Chairman not to be distracted by the likes of Saleh Zazzaga and to continue doing the good work of making the party great again.
The recent success in the Kogi and Edo gubernatorial elections proves that Ganduje is the leader the APC has been waiting for, and he is ever ready to regain the party’s lost glory in places like Kano.
Perhaps, Mr. Saleh failed to check the antecedents of Ganduje, who has seen both the good and bad days of Nigerian politics, and his rants will not earn him a penny.
