Kano Court Sacks KANSIEC Head Following APC Lawsuit

A Federal High Court in Kano has removed Prof. Sani Malumfashi from his position as Chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) due to his affiliation with a political party.

Justice Simon Amobeda delivered the ruling on Tuesday in a case brought by Aminu Aliyu Tiga and the Kano State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The APC had earlier challenged the electoral body’s decision to set nomination fees at 10 million naira for the chairmanship and 5 million naira for councillorship positions in the upcoming local government elections.
