Alhaji Sa’idu Dattijo Adhama, the chairman of Adhama Textile and Garment, has expressed deep concern about the rising insecurity in Kano State, emphasizing its detrimental impact on the region’s economic growth.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by members of various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) led by Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, chairman of AMG Foundation, Adhama called for urgent and collaborative efforts to address the state’s insecurity, which he believes is crippling economic development.
“For Kano to maintain its stability and enhance its economic prospects, the issue of repentant thugs must be approached holistically by all concerned stakeholders,” Adhama stated.
He continued, highlighting the alarming physical status of the state in recent years, driven by the growing number of youths involved in thuggery. “The state’s physical status is so scary to citizens and businesses due to the high figures of youth engaged in thuggery activities, which have claimed lives and property,” Adhama added.
Emphasizing the need for collective responsibility, Adhama urged a comprehensive strategy to address the issue. “It’s our collective responsibility to use strategic plans in addressing repentant thugs with sustainable development for future endeavors,” he said.
Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, chairman of AMG Foundation, pledged the foundation’s commitment to supporting the transformation of repentant thugs into productive members of society.
“AMG Foundation pledges to support 100 repentant thugs by equipping them with skills that foster self-reliance and contribute to economic development in the state,” Magashi said.
He also revealed a collaboration with the Kano State Command of the Nigeria Fire Service to train some of the repentant thugs as part of an initiative to reform their status in society.
“We continue to work with security agencies, policymakers, and NGOs in the state to promote peace and create a sustainable environment for Kano citizens and neighboring states,” Magashi added.
