A coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) social media activists in Kano State has distanced itself from a recent press statement calling for the resignation of the state party chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Abbas Dan Sarki.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the activists described those behind the resignation call as individuals who do not represent the APC.
“We, the undersigned Kano State APC Social Media Activists, hereby distance ourselves completely from the recent press statement made by individuals who claimed to speak on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, calling for the resignation of our respected Party Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Abbas Dan Sarki,” the statement read.
The group said the comments were misleading and could cause confusion within the party.
“Their unauthorized remarks are not only misleading but also aimed at causing unnecessary division and confusion within the party at a crucial moment when unity and loyalty are needed most.”
The activists expressed support for the current leadership of the party.
“We, as committed APC members and social media defenders of the party’s ideals, reaffirm our total loyalty and support to Hon. Abdullahi Abbas Dan Sarki jikan sarki, a man of vision, experience, and proven commitment to the growth and stability of APC in Kano and beyond.”
They stated that the party chairman’s leadership remains important.
“The APC in Kano State has witnessed significant victories and strategic successes under his leadership, and we firmly believe that his stewardship remains crucial as we prepare for future political challenges.”
They called on the public and party members to disregard the resignation call.
“We, therefore, urge the general public, party members, stakeholders, and media outlets to disregard the earlier publication in its entirety, as it does not reflect the official position of the party in Kano State.”
The statement ended with: “We stand for unity. We stand for progress. We stand with Hon. Abdullahi Abbas.”
