Former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has reaffirmed his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that he remains a loyal member of the party and is willing to work with any arrangement—within or outside it—to secure Nigeria in 2027.
Lamido made the declaration while speaking with journalists in Kano.
“I am PDP. I will remain in PDP, even though PDP has got some problems. I am PDP by flesh, soul, and bone.
“I can’t simply walk out of my skin and crawl into another flesh and blood and be conferred with a smaller skin called ADC. I cannot,” he said.
He stated that he would support any candidate—within or outside the PDP—under any arrangement aimed at saving Nigeria.
He noted that for any country to achieve stability, its components must trust one another and remain united.
“We need a country which is united, where there is trust, love for each other, and respect. To me, we should come together for democracy, unity, stability, security, and prosperity,” he said.
He recalled that despite all he faced because of his association with the PDP—including imprisonment, detention, harassment, blackmail, humiliation of his family, and even an attempt to burn down his house—he remains committed to the party.
“PDP made me a governor and a minister. The party is transparent and is for Nigeria, not for individuals, and it always strives to do what is right,” he said.
Speaking on the issue of creating new states, he said there are more pressing challenges such as insecurity, poverty, hunger, unity, and national cohesion.
“If these issues are addressed, I have no problem with the creation of new states,” he added.
