No fewer than 1,500 indigenes of Gombe State working with the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) have endorsed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The workers, drawn from various departments and cadres within the electricity distribution company, declared their support during a solidarity gathering organised in honour of the APC candidate.
According to the group, Dr. Gwamna played a significant role in facilitating employment opportunities for more than 1,500 Gombe indigenes during his time at KEDCO, describing the intervention as life-changing.
The event was attended virtually by the Managing Director of KEDCO, Dr. Abubakar Shuaibu Jimeta, who joined from Saudi Arabia, where he is performing the Hajj pilgrimage.
Speaking on behalf of the workers, the group expressed appreciation to Gwamna for what they described as his visionary leadership and commitment to empowering the people of Gombe State.
They noted that the employment opportunities secured under his leadership had positively impacted their lives, families, and communities.
“We are here to stand firmly behind a leader who invested in our future. Dr. Gwamna is a man of vision, compassion, and proven capacity. We are fully committed to supporting him until he emerges victorious in 2027. Not only we, but also our relatives, families, and well-wishers will support him wholeheartedly,” the group said.
The workers further maintained that Gwamna possesses the capacity to consolidate on the achievements of the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, economic growth, and human capital development.
Responding, Gwamna expressed gratitude for the endorsement, saying he was overwhelmed by the support and loyalty shown by the workers.
According to him, many of those who benefited from the employment opportunities have risen through the ranks to occupy strategic and managerial positions within the company.
“Seeing you all today fills my heart with joy. This is a testament to the power of opportunity and the importance of investing in people. I am proud of what you have all become,” he said.
Gwamna commended the workers for their dedication and urged them to continue contributing to the growth and stability of KEDCO while representing Gombe State positively wherever they find themselves.
He also reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance, promising to prioritise job creation, youth empowerment, and sustainable development if elected governor.
“My doors remain open to all individuals and groups willing to partner for the progress and prosperity of our dear state. Together, we will build a future of opportunity, unity, and shared success,” Gwamna added.
The event attracted clerics, business leaders, politicians, APC officials, and other stakeholders, reflecting what the organisers described as growing support for the APC candidate ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State.
