The Nigeria Police Force has rescued Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, from kidnappers.
The victims were rescued alive during a late-night operation conducted by police operatives on Saturday.
Kano Times gathered that the rescue operation followed sustained intelligence gathering and tactical pressure mounted on the kidnappers by security operatives.
Sources disclosed that the victims were freed after a gun battle between the police and the kidnappers.
Two suspected kidnappers were killed during the exchange of fire, while two firearms were recovered from the suspects.
Mrs John-Paul and her sons were abducted on June 3 while on their way to drop the children at school in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident had sparked concern among family members and residents, with calls for their safe return.
Police sources further revealed that security operatives have launched a manhunt for other members of the kidnapping gang, who reportedly fled the scene, some with gunshot wounds.
The rescued victims are said to be receiving necessary medical attention and are in stable condition.
