The Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA) has withdrawn its membership from the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), citing alleged violations of constitutional procedures and governance principles.
KACCIMA announced the decision in a statement signed by its President, Ambassador Usman Hassan Darma, following NACCIMA’s General Meeting in Port Harcourt, where the national body reportedly ratified the Dala Chamber of Commerce in Kano.
The chamber said it had earlier petitioned NACCIMA on May 26, 2026, over governance concerns and received a response on June 2, but claimed that its grievances were not addressed.
“KACCIMA believes that a strong private sector depends on strict adherence to constitutional rules, mutual respect, and transparent leadership,” the statement said.
The chamber alleged that the admission of the Dala Chamber did not comply with the provisions of Article 5 of NACCIMA’s Memorandum and Articles of Association. It also expressed concerns over alleged conflicts of interest involving individuals holding leadership positions in both organisations.
According to KACCIMA, bypassing due process could weaken the chamber system nationwide and fragment the country’s private sector.
Despite its withdrawal, the chamber reaffirmed its commitment to supporting business growth and economic development, stressing that the expansion of the chamber movement should be pursued through “lawful, transparent, and inclusive processes.”
