FG inaugurates Bank of Agriculture board, tasks members on reforms

The Federal Government has inaugurated a new Board of Directors for the Bank of Agriculture, charging members to work diligently to strengthen the institution and support Nigeria’s agricultural development.

The inauguration was performed by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, according to a statement issued on Saturday by the bank’s Communications Personnel, Office of the Managing Director, Abimbola Otepola-Ishaku.

Kyari urged the board to “provide leadership that would support projects capable of creating jobs, reducing poverty and improving the socio-economic well-being of Nigerian families.”

Chairman of the board, Muhammad Babangida, described the inauguration as “a renewed commitment to strengthening the Bank and positioning it to deliver greater impact in support of Nigeria’s agricultural transformation.”

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Ayodeji Sotinrin, said the institution would work to translate the board’s vision into measurable results through stronger governance, improved access to agricultural finance and strategic partnerships.

According to him, the bank will “intensify efforts to expand access to affordable agricultural credit, strengthen institutional governance and risk management,” while accelerating its digital transformation.

Other members of the board include Fatima Garba, Hakeem Salami, Ka’amuna Khadi, Rabiu Funtua, Kpochi Iorgyer, Aminu Mohammed, Oladejo Odunuga and Charles Amuchienwa.
