Police arrest suspected drug supplier to Katsina bandits

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug dealer, Sunday Eze, popularly known as Dunbuje, for allegedly supplying illicit drugs to armed bandits operating in Funtua Local Government Area and neighbouring communities.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said in a statement on Thursday that the suspect was arrested by operatives of the Central Police Station, Funtua, during an intelligence-led operation on July 15.

He said the operatives recovered 500 tablets of D5, an illicit drug, during a search of the suspect.

Aliyu said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly specialised in supplying the drugs to armed bandits and other criminal groups operating in Funtua and surrounding areas.

According to him, the suspect is in police custody while investigations continue to uncover his supply network and apprehend other members of the syndicate.

“The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” Aliyu said.

The Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, commended the operatives for the arrest, saying the command remained committed to disrupting criminal networks by targeting their logistics and drug supply chains.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to tackle crime across the state.
