Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Freetown, Sierra Leone, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Shettima, who arrived at the Freetown International Airport, Lungi, on Sunday, was received by Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, alongside Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye, and the Nigerian High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Ayo Luther-Ogbomode.
The summit, scheduled to hold at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Freetown, will bring together West African leaders, ministers, senior government officials, regional institutions and business leaders.
According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Stanley Nkwocha, participants are expected to deliberate on issues bordering on regional peace and security, democratic governance, economic integration, infrastructure development and sustainable growth across West Africa.
President Tinubu is being represented at the summit by Vice President Shettima.
