President Bola Tinubu has condemned the deadly attack on Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward of Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, which claimed the lives of about 30 residents, including women and children.
The President described the incident as a “barbaric and cowardly attack” on innocent citizens and directed security agencies to intensify operations to apprehend those responsible.
Tinubu’s reaction was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, also left several houses razed by the assailants.
According to the President, the assault was “an unprovoked act of terror against defenceless people,” stressing that those behind the killings would not escape justice.
“Those who seek to destabilise the hard-fought peace and security, which Kaduna State has enjoyed in recent times, will not go unpunished,” he said.
Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the victims, Governor Uba Sani, the Kaduna State Government and residents of the state over the tragedy.
He also assured the state government and affected communities of the Federal Government’s support, saying efforts to address security challenges across the country remain a priority.
“I have directed the Armed Forces, police, and relevant intelligence agencies to intensify operations across the affected areas to track down the perpetrators swiftly and restore normalcy to the region,” the President said.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to national security, Tinubu added: “Our administration has an unwavering commitment to strengthening security infrastructure, equipping response personnel, and neutralising criminal networks attempting to disrupt the peace of the nation.”
The President further appealed to residents to support security agencies with credible information to aid ongoing operations.
“I urge our local communities to cooperate with security forces by providing actionable intelligence that would help early response efforts,” he said.
