15 Injured in Kano-Zaria Road Accident

Fifteen persons were injured on Sunday when a DAF trailer conveying passengers and goods was involved in a lone road traffic crash along the Kano-Zaria Road at Gadar Yankifi, Kano State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Kano Sector Command, disclosed this in a statement issued by its Sector Public Education Officer, CRC A.A. Labaran.

According to the statement, the crash was reported to the command at about 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, adding that the FRSC rescue team arrived at the scene within five minutes of receiving the distress call.

It stated that all 15 persons involved in the crash were rescued and evacuated to Kura General Hospital for medical attention.

“No death was recorded,” the statement added.

The crash temporarily obstructed traffic along the busy Kano-Zaria Road, prompting the FRSC Sector Commander, CC I.M. Lawal, to deploy the corps’ tow truck to the scene to clear the obstruction and facilitate the free flow of traffic.

The command urged motorists plying the route to exercise patience, reduce their speed when approaching the affected area, and obey traffic rules and regulations.

It also called on motorists to cooperate with FRSC personnel and other emergency responders working at the scene, assuring the public that efforts were underway to clear the obstruction and fully restore normal traffic flow.
