A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has urged President Bola Tinubu and members of his family to begin packing their belongings from the Presidential Villa ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Melaye, a former senator, expressed confidence that the ADC would defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.
He said Nigerians were dissatisfied with the Tinubu administration over hunger, insecurity, killings and alleged corruption.
Melaye stated this in an interview with Arise TV on Monday.
According to him, the ADC’s winning strategy is simple because Nigerians are ready for a change of government.
“The winning strategy for the ADC is very simple. The people are with us. The people are tired of maladministration.
“They are tired of lies. They are tired of borrowing. They are tired of three budgets in three successions not being implemented,” he said.
Melaye alleged that despite government borrowing to finance its budgets, some contracts awarded in 2024 were yet to be paid for.
He also accused the administration of failing to adequately fund its budgets.
He said the hardship and insecurity in the country had created a disconnect between the government and the people.
Melaye further criticised the administration over alleged comments on election rigging, violence and ballot snatching.
He said such comments were inappropriate for a president who should serve as a role model to young Nigerians.
Melaye predicted a change of government in 2027, urging Tinubu and his family to prepare to leave the Presidential Villa.
“And I’m telling you that the results will tell in January. The president and his family members should begin to pack their luggage and things from the villa … because there will be a change of government,” he said.
Melaye resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in July 2025 and joined the ADC.
He has since emerged as one of the vocal figures in the party.
