President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, on his 70th birthday.
In a congratulatory message, Tinubu described the Sultan’s 70 years as a testament to “a life lived in service, wisdom, and grace.”
The President said the Sultan had, for nearly two decades on the throne, upheld the traditions of the Sokoto Caliphate through scholarship, humility and a commitment to peace.
“You have been a stabilising voice in times of turbulence, a bridge-builder across faiths and communities, and a moral compass not only for our Muslim ummah, but for our entire nation,” Tinubu said.
He commended the Sultan’s advocacy for education, interfaith dialogue, peaceful coexistence, the girl-child and the dignity of Nigerians.
Tinubu said he valued the Sultan’s partnership in nation-building, particularly his contributions to security, community development and the spiritual well-being of Nigerians.
He prayed that Allah would grant the Sultan many more years in good health and strength and preserve him for his family, the Sokoto Caliphate and Nigeria.
“May your reign continue to be a source of blessing, guidance, and honour,” the President said.
