As the world marks International Women’s Day, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has acknowledged the contributions of policewomen to security and national development.
In a statement the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to implementing policies that promote gender equality and eliminate discrimination.
“The Nigeria Police Force recognizes that a diverse and inclusive workforce is a stronger and more effective workforce. We are committed to creating a workplace where every officer, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to reach their full potential,” the IGP said.
As part of this commitment, the Force has approved a new Gender Policy, which the IGP credited to the efforts of the Force Gender Advisor, AIG Aishatu Abubakar Baju.
He explained that the policy aims to increase female representation in leadership roles, specialized units, and strategic positions.
“We appreciate the unique skills, efforts, and dedication that women bring to policing. With the implementation of the Force Gender Policy, we will actively seek qualified female officers for leadership positions and other critical roles,” he added.
