Death Tragedy: Kano ALGON Chair Calls on FG to Suspend Ado Doguwa’s Political Activities

Hajiya Saadatu Salisu Soja Maijama’a, Executive Chairperson of Tudun Wada Local Government and Chairperson of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in Kano State, has called on the Federal and State Governments to intervene following the death of a local resident during a recent empowerment program.

The incident occurred during an outreach initiative by the Member representing Doguwa and Tudun Wada Federal Constituency, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa.

Speaking on Friday via her Facebook page, Hajiya Soja Maijama’a described the death as “a heartbreaking loss for our community” and identified the deceased as Buhari Mai Fulawa, “one of Tudun Wada’s sons.”

She prayed for divine comfort for the family and the community, saying, “We pray that Almighty God grants the departed soul eternal rest and gives the family, friends, and the entire Tudun Wada community the strength to bear this painful loss.”

The ALGON chairperson stressed the need for accountability, demanding that appropriate actions be taken.

“We cannot continue to witness such tragedies without accountability. Therefore, we strongly call for a thorough investigation and for appropriate measures to be taken, including the suspension of Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa from all political activities and gatherings pending the outcome of such investigations,” she said.

Hajiya Soja Maijama’a urged authorities to prioritise the safety and dignity of the people.

“The people of Tudun Wada deserve peace, safety, and respect for human life. We will not take this act lightly, and we will continue to stand for justice, fairness, and the protection of our community. May peace, justice, and truth prevail. Tudun Wada first!” she added.

The call comes amid growing concern over residents’ safety during political and community events, prompting stakeholders to discuss measures to ensure accountability and prevent further tragedies.

Reports recall that on Thursday, the Chairman of Doguwa Local Government, Hon. Abdulrashid Rilwan, alongside Hon. Ado Doguwa, launched a distribution of food items and cash worth millions of naira to residents.

The support was reportedly distributed across all ten wards of the local government, benefiting councillors, advisers, supervisors, political leaders, party supporters, Lafiya Jari, Proper, CRC members, media aides, and other stakeholders.

It is recalled that in 2023, police allegedly arraigned Alhassan Ado Doguwa in connection with the killings of three persons in his constituency during the general elections. He was detained for allegedly instigating violence, but in 2024, the courts cleared and vindicated him.
