The Kano State Government has reiterated its commitment to sustained collaboration with the Federal Government and development partners to strengthen the education sector in the state.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf gave the assurance when the Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmed, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Kano.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad.
According to the statement, the governor pledged continued support for initiatives aimed at improving education delivery across the state.
“We will continue to collaborate, support every move in developing education in Kano State,” Yusuf was quoted as saying.
He noted that the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project had become a beacon of hope in strengthening the education sector through infrastructural development and improved teacher capacity.
The governor added that the programme was already making significant impact in expanding access to quality education, particularly for girls.
Earlier, Ahmed informed the governor that Kano State had successfully secured a World Bank “No Objection” approval for the construction of 49 new schools valued at N23 billion.
She disclosed that contractors had already been mobilised to site, noting that the project would expand access to education for underserved communities across the state.
The minister also commended the Kano State Government for maintaining high standards in school projects, citing one of the schools she visited during her tour.
Ahmed further urged the AGILE project implementation team to emulate the quality and commitment demonstrated by the state government in executing education projects.
