Local Polls: APC Confident of Winning 40 Out of 44 Kano LGAs, Says Doguwa

As Kano State gears up for the Local Government elections set for October 26, 2024, Ado Alhassan Doguwa, a member of the House of Representatives representing Doguwa/Tudunwada Federal Constituency, has expressed confidence that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), will dominate the polls.

Speaking to a large crowd of his supporters gathered at his residence in Kano, Doguwa stated that the state’s ruling party, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), would not have undue control over the electoral process for various reasons.

He noted, “One of the reasons we are confident in winning the Local Government elections is that the State Electoral Commission does not have its own ballot boxes, and the voters’ lists being used are those documented by INEC.”

“Since the electoral process is not under the personal control of the State Electoral Commission, and with the neutrality of the police and other security agencies, we are confident about the fairness of the elections,” Doguwa added.

He further explained that most Local Government Areas in the state rely heavily on the APC as their party of choice to improve their living conditions, asserting, “We are poised to win at least 40 out of the 44 local governments, if not all.”

As Chairman of the House Committee on Downstream Petroleum, Doguwa also urged APC supporters to remain peaceful throughout the election period.

“Do not be swayed by provocations. Focus on issue-based campaigns, avoid personal attacks or slanderous statements, and show that you are in political control. Don’t let their disruptive tactics affect you,” Doguwa told the party’s supporters.
