The Management of Bayero University, Kano, suspended the 2022/2023 first-semester examinations due to the nationwide strike embarked upon by the labor unions.
This information was contained in a special bulletin from the University, signed by Acting Registrar Amina Umar Abdullahi and released today, Tuesday, 14th November.
“Following the nationwide strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the subsequent decision by the University Unions to join the strike, the Management of Bayero University, Kano, has decided to suspend the ongoing 2022/2023 First Semester Undergraduate examinations and all other academic activities until further notice.
“Meanwhile, all students are advised to remain calm and await further directives from the Management.
“It should be noted that the ongoing examinations are halfway through, and as soon as the strike is over, the examinations will continue.”
The national leadership of the NLC had on Monday announced the commencement of the nationwide industrial action following an assault on the union’s President, Joe Ajaero, in Owerri, earlier on November 1 during a protest against the Imo State Government over alleged maltreatment of workers.
