Tinubu hails Garo’s swearing-in as Kano deputy governor

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Murtala Sule Garo on his swearing-in as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State.

Kano Times recalls that Garo was sworn in on Tuesday by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf following his nomination to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

Tinubu’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The President commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, describing it as a step that would strengthen unity within the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kano State.

He urged political stakeholders in the state to support the governor and his deputy in order to ensure effective governance.

“The President urged all stakeholders to unite behind the governor and his deputy, providing them with full support and cooperation,” the statement said.

Tinubu also advised the new deputy governor to work closely with the governor to accelerate development across the state.

“The President urged the new deputy governor to work assiduously alongside the governor to provide the leadership needed to accelerate the state’s development,” the statement added.

Garo previously served as Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during the administration of former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The 48-year-old was also the APC deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 general election.
