President Bola Tinubu has declared an end to the long-standing neglect of satellite towns in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following the commissioning of a 194-kilometre water supply project serving Karu, Orozo, Jikwoyi, Kurudu and surrounding communities.
Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the inauguration in Kurudu on Monday, said the project demonstrates his administration’s commitment to extending development to underserved areas under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The era of neglect for our satellite towns is officially over,” the President said.
He noted that the project, which comprises over 194 kilometres of secondary and tertiary pipelines, will provide potable water to thousands of households across the benefiting communities.
According to him, the initiative is part of efforts to improve access to basic services and ensure that infrastructure development reaches residents outside Abuja’s city centre.
Tinubu also commended the contractor, CGC Nigeria Limited, for the timely delivery of the project, adding that his administration remains focused on delivering impactful projects rather than making promises.
He stressed that development in the FCT must extend beyond the capital’s elite districts to satellite communities where many working-class residents live.
