Jigawa Rescues Medical Dreams: 194 Sudan Students to Complete Studies in Cyprus, India

Jigawa state Government says it has concluded arrangements to transfer 194 Sudan Students to Cyprus and India for continuing their medical studies.

Speaking to the students and their parents at Government House Dutse, Governor Umar Namadi said, the state government is upto date with the war situation in Sudan.

According to him, the state government in collaboration with federal government worked tirelessly for the safe evacuation of the state sponsored medical students.

He said all the students were successfully airlifted back to Nigeria.

Malam Umar Namadi further explained that, he state ministry of Higher Education has successfully secured admission for 184 students in Cyprus University and 10 at Indian University.

He pointed out that, all necessary arrangements has been completed for their onward take off on 5th February.

Speaking at the meeting the state Commissioner for Higher Education Dr Isa Yusuf Chamo said, the state government has spend 2.6 billion naira for securing admission, transport, registration and other required logistics for the 194 students.

He explained that, the students are expected to spend two to three years to complete their medical studies.

He assured that the state government will continue to take care of the students according to the scholarship program.

“Since the inception of the present administration under the leadership of Malam Umar Namadi,over ₦4.6 billion was spent on various students Scholarship, including SSCE registration,”

He said, the state government has also reviewed the annual students Scholarship to cover atleast 50 percent of their registration fees of any public university and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The commissioner therefore, reiterated the commitment of the state government to ensure access to quality education for all children in the state irrespective of their parents social and economic status or their geographical location.

Our Correspondent reports that, the students and their parents who were visibly excited with the development, commended Governor Namadi and his cabinet for their determination to make Jigawa state Great.

They promised to give all necessary support to the state government for achieving the desire goals.
