Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Minister of Defence, asserted that the Nigerian military possesses the capability to effectively tackle the ongoing security crisis in the country, given adequate motivation.
Speaking to newsmen after the National Executive Committee meeting of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Abuja, Senator Kwankwaso emphasized the pivotal role of both the government and citizens in addressing the security challenge.
“As former Minister of Defence and Chief Security Officer of Kano State for eight years, I believe that tackling the security challenge rests on the shoulders of the federal government,” Senator Kwankwaso stated.
He highlighted the urgency of the situation, stressing that the current level of insecurity necessitates the involvement of the Nigerian military.
Senator Kwankwaso also addressed the alarming impact of the security crisis on rural communities, lamenting the inability of citizens to engage in daily activities such as farming due to fear of attacks and abduction by criminals and bandits.
Furthermore, Senator Kwankwaso, who was also the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate, expressed confidence in his party’s ability to address the nation’s challenges if given the opportunity by Nigerians.
He criticized both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), asserting that the NNPP represents the people’s true hope.
