The Kano State Government announced a new Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy to deal with the state’s power problems. The announcement came during a Kano meeting with stakeholders by Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, Kano’s Head of Service.
The government promised to fully support the new ministry. Their goal is to stop factories from leaving because of power cuts. Alhaji Abdullahi mentioned plans to use Independent Power Projects (IPPs) at both Chalawa and Tiga Dam to get more energy.
He said power cuts will be gone soon because the government is working hard to make these IPPs happen.
The meeting also talked about how to improve the lives of civil servants, not just energy. Alhaji Abdullahi said again that the state is committed to a better relationship between the government and its workers.
