Dr. Ibrahim Lawan, an acclaimed academic from Kano State, Nigeria, has made significant strides in the field of agricultural engineering. His educational journey began at Magwan Special Primary School in Kano (1995), followed by Federal Government College Keffi (1998), and Dawakin Kudu Science College (2001). He holds both B. Eng and M. Eng degrees in Agricultural Engineering from Bayero University Kano (BUK), obtained in 2009 and 2015, respectively. Furthering his education, Dr. Lawan earned a Ph.D. from Fujian Agricultural and Forestry University in China in 2019 and has been a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, since 2022.
Dr. Lawan’s academic career launched in 2012 when he joined the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering at BUK as a lecturer. His teaching journey also includes a tenure at the Division of Agricultural College (DAC), Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. With over twelve years of experience in teaching, research, and supervision, Dr. Lawan specializes in Biomass Energy and Bio-materials.
His scholarly contributions are extensive, with publications in top-tier journals such as Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews and Journal of Cleaner Production. Dr. Lawan’s research excellence is reflected in his Google Scholar citation count of over 1270 and an h-index of 14. Among his accolades are a prestigious Doctoral Scholarship from Fujian Agricultural and Forestry University and an Institutional Based Research grant from TetFund.
Dr. Lawan is a registered engineer with COREN and actively participates in professional organizations including the National Institute of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE) and the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE). Outside his professional life, he enjoys walking, playing badminton, and traveling. He is married and has three children.
