Auwal Ahmed Dankode, an employee of the Nigeria Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO), discovered $10,000—equivalent to approximately 16 million naira—inside an aircraft while performing his routine cleaning duties.
Auwal, a native of Kode village in Bunkure, found the money while doing his job and reported it to the airline company’s manager.
Dankode explained, “I was conducting a routine cleaning of the aircraft that had just landed when I found the money in an envelope.”
The plane, EgyptAir, landed around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Following protocol, Dankode reported the discovery to his supervisor. However, when the supervisor was unavailable, he immediately informed the airline company’s manager to help locate the rightful owner.
Within minutes, a man rushed to the aircraft in search of the missing money. After verifying the man’s claim through a series of questions, the manager confirmed that the money belonged to him, as it matched the seat where the envelope was found.
